POSITION SUMMARYAddiction Treatment Counselors will deliver care throughout Wellbridge and are responsible for the day-to-day counseling and case management requirements of a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal program, rehabilitation program and reintegration program. Carries out the Wellbridge vision, values and overall strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management and quality management. Promotes service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with providers, nurses, therapists, counselors and other healthcare team members.RESPONSIBILITIESClinical
  • Provide individual and group therapy for all treatment programs for patients and their family members
  • Direct care delivery including but not limited to assessment of physiologic and psychosocial health status
  • Deliver modality specific care including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, contingency management, and relapse prevention
  • Interviewing patients, establishing treatment goals and plan
  • Maintain understanding of current treatments, knowledge, and practices in addiction care and prioritize the use of best and evidence-based practices
  • Develop and maintain standard policies, procedures to ensure quality services and compliance with accrediting entities.
  • Maintain documentation, patient files, and statistics as required by departmental policies and funding sources
Supervision and Support
  • Commit and align with the vision to help every person affected by addiction and the people who care for them achieve long-lasting recovery
  • Maintain a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching, and maintenance; patient and family expectations of care
  • Recognize the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and model sensitivity to all staff
  • Seek and engage in supervision from senior clinicians and peers
Collaboration
  • Support a culture of high quality of care across the organization
  • Work collaboratively with the medical and nursing teams to develop personalized treatment plans
  • Field clinically-related telephone calls and respond as indicated to promote optimal patient care
  • Support efforts of the Wellbridge research team to implement program improvement and patient outcomes
  • Manage and promote relationship with academic and research institutions to promote addiction research and training.
  • Provide crisis support to other clinicians and patients, as needed and in emergency situations
Planning and Coordination
  • Participate in regular clinical team meetings
  • Work closely with the clinical and advocacy teams to coordinate services to patients
  • Make recommendations for growth and development of the organization
  • Respond in a timely fashion to staff concerns and function proactively to retain staff
  • Serve as a liaison and assist with community outreach/presentations
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year (1) of full-time satisfactory experience performing assessment and/or treatment of drug or alcohol addiction care
  • OR a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years (2) of full-time satisfactory experience in addiction care
  • Valid License as counselor or related-fields (CASAC, CASAC-T, MSW and/or MHC) in the State of New York.
  • BLS, required; ACLS or other certification, as required by department. Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
  • Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, JCAHO, etc.
  • Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with data management and electronic records
  • Strong problem solving, conceptual, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specific experience with stabilization and withdrawal management care and/or rehabilitation settings
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience with therapeutic groups (preferably addiction-oriented), therapeutic communities, and inpatient care
  • Knowledge of medications assisted treatment (MAT) and how behavioral interventions can support and improve outcomes for MAT
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary and/or research team
