Whitworth University seeks a compassionate and culturally informed Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health services to undergraduate students. This role involves individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis intervention, assessment, case management, and outreach programs. The counselor will also serve as a consultant on psychological issues to the broader campus community and advise student groups as needed. Hourly Salary Range Associate Counselor: $27.09 - $28.36 Counselor: $32.69 - $33.41 Counseling Services | 75% Provide individual, couples, and group counseling using a brief and focused model, with the possibility of longer-term counseling for selected clients. Conduct clinical assessments, crisis interventions, case management, and treatment planning for students in acute distress. Maintain appropriate clinical documentation consistent with professional standards. Engage in regular staff meetings and contribute to a collaborative team-based approach to clinical services. Outreach | 20% Develop and implement educational and outreach programs, which may include evening or weekend sessions. Collaborate with Health Services, Educational Support Services, Residence Life, Campus Safety, Athletics, and external community resources. Serve as a resource and consultant to parents, families, faculty, staff, and administration as appropriate. Participate in the development and review of agency policies, procedures, and emergency protocols. Other | 5% Assist with special projects and department events. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Master's degree from a regionally accredited university in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or other closely related mental health field. At least one year of experience as a full-time mental health professional; evidence of the responsiveness to, and understanding of, the cultural diversity within the college student population. Current and unrestricted license to practice psychotherapy in the State of Washington, preferred. Associate Counselors will be considered. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Experience working with diverse populations and evidence that demonstrates cultural responsiveness by collaborating with stakeholders to create a campus climate that embraces cultural diversity and helps promote the academic, career, and social/emotional success for all students. Demonstrated ability to provide psychological services (clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and brief psychotherapy) to college students on personal/interpersonal issues, multicultural issues, developmental/educational/career concerns, and the full range of mental health disorders. A demonstrated understanding of the needs and issues of college students. Experience working within a collaborative team-based approach to clinical services in a fast-paced work setting. Schedule 9 months (.75 FTE) | 40 hours per week | September through May Whitworth University is a Christian liberal arts university.
