Job Description :
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Plan, organize, evaluate, coordinate and direct overall operation of assigned staff; study procedures and make plans to develop services for assigned section; establish standards for quality of work; provide back up support for immediate supervisor; assign personnel and evaluate performance; exercise initiative in pointing out the need for program improvements and assume responsibility for research and development of resources to meet such needs; advise all staff on policy/procedures; supervise preparation of periodic reports and caseload analysis; perform other related duties as assigned.WORK PERFORMED/JOB FUNCTIONS: Supervision of assigned professional and paraprofessional staff to ensure they function in accordance with the approved personnel practice. Implement and/or coordinate various functions delegated and assigned by Supervisor. Administration: participate in budget preparation, monitor expenditures under programs supervised, evaluate purchased services of those programs. Contribute to the County/Agency wide team process of service delivery. Prepare and participate to required meetings. Keep supervisor/director informed of unusual or controversial case situations. Ensure safety policies are followed, general housekeeping of work area is maintained, and any safety issues or concerns are corrected or reported for correction. Performs other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work case management as they apply to the treatment of major psycho-social problems. Knowledge of interviewing and recording. Knowledge of agency operations, policies and procedures. Knowledge of community services and resources and functions of social service programs and related services. Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations. Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time. Ability to analyze complex situations and evaluate potential for improvement. Ability to provide technical guidance and suggestions on case direction to other social workers.MINIMUM TRAINING, EXPERIENCE OR CERTIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a major in social work, psychology, sociology or closely related field, and two years of professional social work experience; or a bachelor's degree and four years of professional social work experience. Or a master's degree from an accredited college/university in social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, human services administration or closely related field and six months of professional social work experience. Must have a valid driver's license.PHYSICAL EFFORT: Sedentary to light physical activities requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and close vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds.
