Salary: $15.00 - $20.00 Hourly Location : Junction City Municipal Court Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202400022 Department: Legal Department Division: Municipal Court Opening Date: 01/16/2025 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Bargaining Unit: N/A Description Aids Court Administrator in creating, maintaining, updating, and otherwise overseeing the custody of municipal court records and the court's funds. Prepares paperwork and reports relevant to court activity pursuant to statutory and fiscal requirements. Assists municipal Judge with docket, trials, status, first appearances, warrants, and other hearings. Examples of Duties • Receives in all case paperwork from the police department and/or jail to create new court cases. • Create and maintain court files. • Prepare, pull, and refile court files before and after court dockets. • Sit with the Judge on assigned court dockets to record & prepare all court orders and journal entries. • Use software which interfaces with the police department, state databases, and other required entities to report court action to the following non-exhaustive list: • Kansas Department of Revenue, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Junction City Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies. ? Check-in defendants for court. • Receive, deposit, and record monies paid towards court fines and fees. • Prepare daily till report used to track all financial transactions performed each business day. • Issues late notices on overdue traffic citations. • Type and certify warrants. • Answer general questions and provide case information for record requests. • Archive and properly store closed court cases. • Maintain a competent and positive customer service rapport with defendants and the public. • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Court Administrator &/or department head. Typical Qualifications ? High School or GED equivalent. ? Desirable Skills/ Qualifications/ Requirements: One to Three (1 to 3) years of clerical work required. ? Knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, and database-related software is highly desirable. If no experience, then must be willing to learn. ?Ability and desire to learn is required. Prefer a working knowledge of: ?Personal computers, court procedures, legal terminology and forms, fine & bond procedures, and basic word processing software. ? Possess excellent customer service skills. ? Capable to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner orally and type- written. ? Perform multiple tasks with little to no supervision. ? Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instruction. ? Follow office policy and procedure. ? Maintain confidentiality. ? Bi-Lingual is a plus but not required. ? Notary public certification highly preferred. *Must be willing to obtain one within six months of employment. Supplemental Information Frequently required to sit for long periods of time. • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Occasionally required to walk short distances. • Frequent use of hands, arms, and wrists for typing, writing, and filing. • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. • Reasonable accommodations may be made to this position.
