Retired officers preferred.In addition, applications will be evaluated on the following:Reasonable knowledgeof the court system and familiarity with both walk-through and hand-held metal detectors. Skill inlistening techniques and principles. Requires skill with a semi-automatic pistol. Ability toqualify with a semi-automatic pistol semi-annually; ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral forms; relate to and deal with aggressive or emotionally disturbed individuals; work independently; manage time efficiently; remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high pressure situations; make decisions independently in accordance with established policies and procedures and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities; utilize problem identification and resolution techniques; establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data; courteously meet and deal effectively with other employees, law enforcement officials, court personnel, attorneys, public agencies and the public.SCREENING & EVALUATIONWork is performed in a crowded/confined court environment which requires bending, color identification, climbing stairs, gripping hands & fingers, hearing alarms and voice conversation, occasionally lifting/carrying up to 14 pounds, reaching, sitting, standing, standing long periods and walking.PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment chemical detection screen.
