Overview:The Court Specialist I is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties related to the intake and processing of court cases. This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.STARTING SALARY WILL NOT EXCEED 10% OF THE BASE SALARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESDuties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Intake/Case Creation:JIS Training:Conduct searches and create new SPN identities within the Judicial Information System (JIS).Update party information and build cases in the JIS.Manage court date lookups, docketing, and the cancellation/setting of court dates.Benchmark:Perform record searches, docketing, scanning, and court date lookups.Update party information and handle the cancellation/setting of court dates.Confidential Records Management:Handle and process confidential records with discretion and in compliance with legal standards.Front Counter Operations:Address FAQs, assist with Pro Se Motions, and respond to general customer inquiries.Maintain familiarity with the Help Center to provide accurate information.Telephone Operations:Conduct case lookups and handle general customer inquiries.Direct calls or transfer calls to the appropriate department or individual.Diversion Program Management:E-file deferred prosecution agreements and enter disposition codes to close cases.Review and manage the list of codes and handle the revocation and re-opening of diversion cases.Diversion Program Management:E-file deferred prosecution agreements and enter disposition codes to close cases.Review and manage the list of codes and handle the revocation and re-opening of diversion cases.Misdemeanor/Arraignments:Manage arraignments, continue court dates, and process court notices/disbursements.Perform scanning of felony and misdemeanor documents and issue capiases.Handle judgment and sentence documentation, misdemeanor diversion, and process orders.Misdemeanor/Traffic:Check for cases in 'Warrant' or 'Capias' status and docket scan to set court dates.Enter tickets, arraignments, and pleas, and issue capiases and bond forfeitures as requested.Terminate probation and manage related documentation.Setting Bonds:Issue bonds, manage pretrial processes for mental health cases, and determine money amounts for bonds.Process orders reinstating or setting bonds and handle out-of-country bond cases.Court Date Management:Set and manage court dates efficiently.E-Notices:Distribute electronic notices for hearings and capiases.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of general office policies and procedures. Good knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation. Knowledge of filing systems and basic records management processes. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Ability to interact with the general public, judiciary and others in a professional courteous manner. Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers. Advanced skills in the operation of a personal computer, scanner, and printer; basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and other office automation products; and the ability to learn specialized, complex court and records management computer applications.
