Benefits to you

* We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.

* The hourly equivalent for this position is $25.17 - $39.05. [OR the annual salary for this position is $52,356 - $81,228.]

Location Highlights

Portland, Oregon was founded in 1845 (incorporated in 1851). It is the state's largest city and the county seat for Multnomah County. It is named for Portland, Maine. It is situated at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. Position Highlights

The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a Courtroom Clerk for the Honorable Christine Marin.

In this role

You will provide moderate-to-complex support to the judge and judicial assistant by preparing files for pretrial review, scheduling hearings and trial dates, preparing motions, orders, and judgments, retrieving case law as requested, managing the judge's docket, updating multiple calendars, assisting in case tracking, and reviewing documents filed with the court for accuracy and completeness. You will also screen visitors and mail, obtain needed signatures, certify court orders as directed, summarize the day's rulings, and verify the status of warrants. You will provide backup for the judicial assistant and will train, and mentor newer courtroom clerks as needed.

Additionally, you will prepare the courtroom for the day's proceedings, swear in witnesses, mark, and maintain exhibits, monitor proceedings, respond to security needs, maintain audio and electronic records, update the case management system, and schedule and facilitate WebEx hearings as needed. You will assist attorneys, litigants, and the public in using the court system and will answer questions about the status of cases and court procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have at least three (3) years or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.

AND

Possession of a High School diploma or equivalent.

OR

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

* Experience using computers and multiple applications to enter and retrieve data and performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks in a dynamic business or professional setting.

* Experience maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines despite frequent interruption or distracting surroundings.

Working Conditions

* This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.

* Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.

* Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.

* Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.

* Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Parking

Multnomah County Circuit Court does not provide parking for the central courthouse or justice center staff. Multnomah does offer a Rideshare Rewards program that will provide $50/month for eligible employees. To be eligible, you must spend $50 or more per month on one of the following for working at the courthouse or justice center: TriMet (public transportation), Pay to Park (street or garage), or Carpool (share cost of parking). Another option is the Douglas Garage at 1835 S River Dr, Portland, OR 97204. Parking cost is $165/month and is a half-mile from the courthouse and justice center.

Criminal Background Check

You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
