Overview: The Ship Crane Operator is responsible for operating cranes on ships that transport bulk materials such as sand, aggregate, gravel, and other commodities. This role requires expertise in handling heavy and bulk materials, adherence to safety standards, and efficient operation in various maritime environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate cranes for loading and unloading bulk materials. This includes managing the flow of materials to and from the ship and communicating with deckhands.
- Strictly follow all maritime safety regulations and operational procedures. Perform regular inspections of crane equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Oversee bulk materials handling, ensuring that cargo is loaded and unloaded effectively, without spillage or damage.
- Communicate effectively to manage the movement of materials and adhere to schedules.
- Notify management of any operational issues.
Qualifications: Proven experience in operating cranes, specifically for bulk materials. Knowledge of maritime safety standards and bulk cargo handling procedures. Ability to work in various weather conditions and sea states. Good teamwork and communication skills. Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding conditions. NCCCO Certification a plus
