Job Type Full-time Description ELIGIBLE FOR $1000 SIGN-ON BONUSSECOND SHIFTJOB SUMMARY To package parts, make crates and skids, and prepare equipment for shipment. Operate automatic vacuum packing machine. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Receives shipping orders or verbal instructions for packaging and preparing materials for shipment. • Applies cleaners, rust preventatives, and wraps material to prevent rust. • Packs material in suitable containers, tags. • Operates automatic vacuum skin packing machine. Selects proper container or materials, positions in machine, place parts and labels, operates push button to start automatic packing cycle, removes finished package. Changes or replaces roll of film. • Types address labels and prepares necessary paperwork for shipment. Maintains files. • Measures and saws lumber, assembles and nails boxes and crates to prepare items for shipment, applies protective coatings. • Sets blocks and adequately fastens parts or equipment on skids, bolts, or bands to secure. Follows customer's requirement or standard procedure in packing and crating items for foreign shipment. • Weighs and records gross weight and marks identification; tags, wraps, and packs spare parts. • Assists in loading trucks using floor controlled electric crane, hand hoist, or when unloading and stacking lumber. • Changes saw blades and cleans equipment. • Follows established procedure in preparing and shipping material for export. Notifies Supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment, shortages, or defective materials and notifies of supplies needed. • Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly. Requirements JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Pre-employment training: this job requires the mentality to learn to perform work of a semi-repetitive nature where judgement is required to use scales, operate power saw to cut lumber, make skids, crates, and boxes, prepare and pack parts for shipment. • Mental skill: perform semi-routine job involving some variety of detail and requiring judgement. • Manual skill: use measuring devices and small tools in a routine manner. Operate crane, electric lift truck, and automatic vacuum packing machine. • Responsibility for material: use close attention for part of shift when making measurements, securing products to skid, or completing box. Improper crafting could result in shipping damage. Material loss seldom over $100. • Responsibility for tools and equipment: moderate attention and care required to prevent damage to power tools, crane, packing machine, and walking electric truck. • Responsibility for operations: work alone or as a member of a crating crew performing work where there is some coordination with other members of the crew. • Responsibility for safety of others: considerable care and attention required to prevent injury to others when moving material or product. Operates lift truck or uses crane where others are exposed. • Mental effect: light mental or visual application required for performing work where there is some variety of duties, but decisions are limited. • Physical effort: moderate physical exertion. Handle medium weight material as associated with making crates, skids, or boxes. • Surroundings: inside and outside conditions but not required to remain out in extreme weather. Continually dirty or noisy work. • Hazard: moderate, probable injuries consist of severe cuts, bruises, or fractures.
