Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Credit Manager to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the credit policies and procedures of the organization, ensuring that credit risks are effectively assessed and mitigated. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of credit management, and the ability to make informed decisions to support business objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties - Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers through credit reports, financial statements, and risk assessments.
- Establish credit limits and terms based on comprehensive analysis.
- Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures to minimize risk and optimize cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Monitor customer accounts and payment behavior, addressing any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve credit-related inquiries and disputes.
- Oversee the collections process, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts and minimizing bad debt.
- Implement collection strategies and negotiate payment arrangements with customers as needed.
- Prepare regular reports on credit risk exposure, aging accounts, and collection performance.
- Analyze trends and provide insights to senior management for decision-making.
- Foster a collaborative environment to support the achievement of departmental goals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in credit management and collections.
- Stay updated on industry trends and credit risk management practices.
Skills and Qualifications - Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., Certified Credit Professional) is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in credit management or financial analysis, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in credit management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on data analysis and risk assessment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements (Office Environment): - Must be able to lift/carry 5 lbs frequently.
- Must be able to lift/carry 25 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs infrequently.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
