Salary: $19.52 - $25.69 Hourly Location : St. Clair County Court House 201 McMorran Blvd. Port Huron, MI 48060 Job Type: PART TIME HOURLY Job Number: 24-175 Department: 72nd District Court Probation Opening Date: 09/04/2024 Closing Date: Continuous REQUISITION #: 24-175 HOURS: Part Time OTHER INFORMATION: Open to St. Clair County Employees and the Public POSITION SUMMARY Carries out the tasks and functions of the 72nd District Court Work Program. Supervises on-site functions, specifically site safety, defendant accountability and task completion. Conducts roll call and maintains accountability for program participation throughout the day. Coordinates with on-site organizational members to ensure or enhance task completion. Records and reports the status of defendant compliance, attendance and behavior. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Projects, promotes and maintains a positive image serving St. Clair County's interests.
  • Conduct roll-call at the initiation of the day and assign applicable job sites.
  • Provide simple instruction, training or guidance for assignments (i.e. painting, raking, lifting).
  • Coordinate work assignments and priorities with on-site organizational representatives.
  • Supervise any crisis management issues which may immediately arise (i.e. first aid, calling 911).
  • Maintain an applicable work pace throughout the day to ensure accountability and task completion.
  • Account for and report defendant compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 72nd District Court Department of Probation Officer/Work Program Coordinator and Lead Crew Chief. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work Program participants. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION:
  • A High School diploma (GED acceptable) required, some post-high school coursework in the criminal justice or social work career field preferred.
  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license and maintain this license throughout employment in this position.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience in supervision to include training, scheduling and coordination.
  • Experience in the criminal justice or social work fields.
  • Writing, reading, mathematical principles; proficient computer skills-Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook; exercise sound judgment and decision making in accordance with policies and procedures; ability to research and problem solve independently; knowledge of County operations and functions; ability to prioritize and time manage; handle stressful situations, provide effective and friendly customer service; support the County's mission and values; ability to think critically where necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with management, co-workers and clients; obtain and communicate accurate information; apply common sense understanding to complex instructions and respond accordingly; communicate complex ideas through graphs, charts, presentations, reports or other professional correspondence.

Proficient skills using Microsoft Office programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook required.Proficiency may be tested. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Prior to starting employment, the candidate must complete a satisfactory background check.   • Due to the nature of the work hours may include overtime, evenings or weekends.
  • Available for on-call work on weekends and evenings.
