Lead Our Team to Excellence: Now Hiring a Crew Lead at Top Notch Logworks!Job Title: Crew LeadCompany Name: Top Notch LogworksSalary: Competitive, based on experienceFull Job DescriptionA crew lead is responsible for job layout, time tracking, controlling labor hours to complete the job within bid, directing the crew in building, joining in with construction labor, communicating with the job estimator, and interfacing with clients on occasion. Crew leads should be able to work alone but thrive working on a team and with others. The position does entail working outside, using a draw knife to peel logs, using chainsaws, requires lifting 60 lbs., climbing ladders/heights, driving 1.5 hours one way to job sites, and dedication to completing the work and carrying through for both our clients and our employees.Who we are: Top Notch Logworks Inc. is an employee-owned corporation that started building complex log and timber roof systems, stairs, and accents on custom homes in the Aspen and Vail Valleys in 1999.   • Support the crew with a thorough overview of each new bid.
  • Compile and deliver job records to the office (receipts, change orders, checks, etc.).
  • Prepare detailed job analysis using bid versus actual cost data.
  • Control costs and support the crew to complete jobs at or under quoted hours.
  • Fabricate and install rail, deck, and log structures.
  • Maintain site and yard organization throughout the workday.
  • Be skilled and knowledgeable in most production techniques, tools, and log products.
  • Organize and produce work on the job site by cooperative leadership of co-workers.
  • Coordinate with the production manager, estimator, customer, and crew.
  • Analyze required documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough project scope.
  • Purchase materials and schedule sanitation and equipment rental on site.
  • Layout the job in an efficient manner based on the bid.
  • Work onsite with the crew to complete the job (this is a hands-on labor position).
  • Plan and order materials to ensure a good efficient start.
Oversight & Development of Crew:
  • Build and oversee the crew.
  • Foster a positive work culture.
  • Help and support the crew to enhance their skill set.
  • Moderate employee interaction and exemplify company values/culture.
  • Maintain an understanding of the crew's current projects and workload.
  • Encourage the crew to ask questions and support problem-solving.
  • Develop professionalism in others and fix communication breakdowns.
  • Ensure all crew members are engaged and involved in projects.
Data Analysis & Office Processes:
  • Review crew hours to compare actual hours to the current schedule.
  • Correctly record T&M with forms, paperwork/receipts, and on timecards.
  • Assess completed job reports against job estimates.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and voicemail daily.
  • Deliver paperwork to the finance division.
  • Monitor operational costs to maintain or increase profit margins.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures and policies.
  • Analyze jobs to ensure proper job recording.
Client Interfacing:
  • Take site photos before, during, and after jobs to provide a unified understanding of the site.
Qualifications:
  • Strong construction knowledge and experience in building log structures.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs., climb ladders/heights, and drive 1.5 hours one way to job sites.
  • Proven ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and analyzing blueprints and project plans.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles (van, dump truck).

Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday 7:00- 4:30
