Provides timely and relevant information on crime patterns and trends to assist operational and administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities. Presents analyses to various audiences within the Police Department and community in effective formats including maps, graphs, and reports. Identifies opportunities for proactive problem solving and evidence-based policing in support of department goals.This position is opened until filled and may close at anytime. Hiring Range for this position is: $65,062.40 - $89,460.80 Essential Job Functions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, and methods of crime analysis;
  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of Police Department operations and procedures;
  • Ability to extract, conceptualize, analyze, interpret and prepare police data, and to utilize the data to draw sound conclusions, for evaluating police deployment, responses and problem solving efforts
  • Knowledge of criminal investigation and investigative analysis techniques;
  • Ability to acquire competency in use of computer applications, including department databases, Geographic Interface System (GIS), word processing, and graphics;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, with law enforcement personnel and the public.
Minimum Required Qualifications Associate's degree required from an accredited college or university with major coursework in research methods, criminal justice, criminology, police science, or police administration; Bachelor's degree preferred; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Experience with computer applications in general, relational databases and queries, ArcGIS, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher). Ability to analyze data, think objectively, and have a thorough understanding of statistical concepts and social variables affecting public safety. Special Requirements Candidate must pass a background screening and investigation, polygraph, drug screening and psychological exam.
