LOCATION OF POSITION: Monroe One BOCES - 41 O'Connor Road, Fairport NY 14450; Creekside School

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month Position, Full Time

STARTING DATE: September, 2024

SALARY RANGE: $32,250 - $50,229 per school year

* Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.

DUTIES:

1. Provide Crisis Intervention for students.

2. Positively interact with students and staff consistently.

3. Use verbal and non-verbal communication skills and behavior support techniques effectively to help manage aggressive behavior and defuse students in crisis.

4. Work collaboratively with team members to support all students in program assignments effectively.

5. Attend Train the Trainer sessions to keep current on behavior management.

6. Train staff on techniques to support student behaviors.

7. Attend team meetings when necessary.

8. Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Civil Service eligibility for Student Behavioral Assistant: EITHER:

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with an Associate's degree (or completion of 60 college credits), OR,

B. Two (2) years paid full time or its part time equivalent experience involving the supervision, counseling or instruction of students in a school facility, institution or agency devoted to the care, education, rehabilitation or detention of children; OR,

C. Two (2) years paid full time or its part time equivalent experience responsible for the protection of people or property in a position such as Police Officer, Security Specialist or Military Police; OR,

D. Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

2. Bachelor's Degree in Counseling/Mental Health/Psychology or related field preferred.

3. Required to complete TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) training.

4. Experience working with students with disabilities required; experience working with students with autism preferred.

5. Working knowledge of conflict resolution required.

6. Must be a proactive team player and problem solver.

7. Able to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations.

8. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

9. Ability to use technology effectively.

10. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation) including, but not limited to:

* Ability to use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary.

* Lifting and/or carrying (potentially 50 lbs. or greater).

* Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, and/or reaching.

* Walking, running, and/or escorting students in multiple settings
