Broad Function:The position exists in the radiology department and involves responsibility for performance of specialized and routine radiographic and computed tomography procedures as prescribed by physicians. The work is performed under general direction of a radiologist with regard to discretion of independent judgement in carrying out technical details of the work. The incumbent does related work as required. Basic computer skills necessary.
Union Position:Position requires union membership and is subject to dues.
Major Responsibilities: - Perform radiographic and computed tomography imaging in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by radiologist. Evaluates images for technical and diagnostic quality.
- Maintain current knowledge of all routine and specialized radiographic and computed tomography examinations and procedures, protocols and human anatomy.
- Maintain current knowledge of all radiographic and computed tomographic equipment, operation, cleaning, arranging of repairs and maintenance.
- Follows safe operation and maintenance of equipment, materials and resources to complete duties.
- Instruct and assist patients in regard to radiographic and computed tomographic procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Maintain competency in caring for patients of all age groups and developmental stages, and maintain competency as specifically indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit.
- Maintains required documentation, records, logs and an adequate level of supplies on hand.
- Maintain complete understanding of radiology management systems and undergo any necessary education on new systems implemented necessary to job duties.
- Perform the duties of Radiologic Technologist and CT Technologist, when the needs of the department arise, as well covering for emergency call as necessary.
- IV Certified with NYS and able to perform IV placement.

- Maintain awareness of and comply with hospital and regulatory agencies standards, rules, regulations and codes applicable to radiologic services.
- Adheres to infection control program to prevent spread of infection practice of standard precautions, protects self, peers, patients and visitors from infection and uses appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Follows and maintains attendance according to policy.
- Attend and complete required education programs (health streams, department specific mandatory programs and position/performance related topics).

- Adheres to dress code & always wears ID badge.
- Customer service approach to patient care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Education: Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Experience: 2 years in Radiologic Technology or 1 year in Computed Tomography.
- Licensure: ARRT registered required, NYS license required, CPR certification required, CT certification within 1 year of hire, Certification for Contrast Injection required within 30 days
