Dispatcher The Dispatcher is responsible for increasing the efficiency of Capital Trucking by utilizing the XBE Software and Fleetwatcher software to their full capacity. This position uses real-time functionality to track all trucks, drivers, and loads to manage the runs and manage costs effectively. Ensures efficient use of geo data (map view) and knows where everything is located. Able to identify if there are any delays at the paver or the asphalt plant and be able to advise alternatives to avoid costly shutdowns or mistakes. This position is primarily an office-based position but may also be required to complete tasks in the yard. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Use software to dispatch trucks to the job site based on the schedule.
  • Works with trucking superintendents to dispatch trucks.
  • Start each day reviewing and updating the entire dispatch schedule based on any changes that occurred during the night to ensure all jobs have their trucking needs fulfilled. Fixing all truck changes and problems.
  • Assist the Truck Coordinator each morning to ensure all drivers are on duty, have performed all pre-trip inspections, understand their haul jobs, and safely exit the CTL Yard.
  • Monitor and manage over trucking and under trucking on jobs.
  • Ensure employees are logged into Fleetwatcher.
  • Keep a log of all tardies and call-ins in BambooHR.
  • Notify drivers of changes in dispatch.
  • Answer employee questions on Fleetwatcher.
  • Makes safety programs a matter of vital concern.
  • Participates and engages in safety meetings.
  • Follows all safety rules, and housekeeping mandates, and reports hazards and incidents.
  • Reports defects, accidents, and violations.
  • Follows all verbal and written directions.
  • Participates in required meetings.
  • Demonstrates initiative to improve own knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Dresses in appropriate attire.
  • Acts in a professional manner.
  • Good attitude and people skills.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Must foster harmonious interactions and relationships and maintain basic standards of civility in the workplace.
  • Is a productive team member that supports the team by going where needed, assisting where needed, and maintaining good working relationships (fellow drivers, site crews, management, administration, and customers).
  • Ability to handle a great deal of stress over long periods of time.

Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Minimum of 1 year experience using a software to dispatch and manage trucks. • High school diploma or equivalent. • 21 years of age minimum • Knowledge of various trucks and construction equipment. • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable, and well-organized. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. • Good customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers. • Able to use cell phone and cell phone apps. • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening. • Must read and speak English. • Complies with all applicable safety, environment, and health policies and procedures. • U.S. Citizenship, permanent residency, or work visa is required.
