Job OverviewUnder supervision, the Culinary Worker CTE PT GR aids in food preparation and customer service within a student-led restaurant. This role includes preparing food to meet daily requirements, managing the counter area for food sales and service, and upholding high standardsof quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices. The position supports the Culinary Enterprise Manager and fosters an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing ingredients, cooking, and assembling dishes according to standardized recipes and planned menus
• Delivers a high-quality service experience to all customers by fostering a welcoming atmosphere, addressing inquiries, and effectively processing orders
• Accurately handles customer payments to ensure timely service
• Collaborates closely with team members to ensure smooth restaurant operations and effective communication
• Ensures proper storage and care of food items and supplies
• Maintains clean and organized areas and sanitary work conditions
• Demonstrates knowledge of use and care of equipment

• High School diploma or GED
• Texas Food Handler's Certificate Must obtain within 14 days of employment
• Minimum of 1 year Food Service and Preparation
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work with students and staff cooperatively
• Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English
• Basic math skills, computer skills, and ability to work with currency in a quick and accurate manner

Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms.The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.Additional Information

• Frequent manual dexterity is required to perform lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tasks described previously, in addition to preparing food dishes with or without utensils, adjusting thermostats on ovens and grills, washing pots and pans, and cleaning, wiping counters, sweeping, and mopping. Frequent reaching from side to side up to arm's length while preparing and serving food or performing cleaning activities is required. Work requires continual walking and standing while performing essential functions. Occasional bending, stooping, and squatting is required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Work requires exposure to extreme hot and/or cold temperatures from steamers and freezers and the hazards associated with food tipping or spilling off of food and utility carts and dollies. Incumbents are also exposed to hazards associated with cleaning chemicals.
