TITLE: Custodial TechnicianPROGRAM: MaintenanceJOB SUMMARY: Will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the buildings and periodic maintenance of the grounds owned and/or operated by HVMHC. These responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with the Core Values and Mission of Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC).JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpets, rugs, appliances, windows and walls2. Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, kitchen and bath fixtures3. Dust furniture, fixtures, and flat surfaces4. Empty trash and recycling into bins/dumpsters5. Vacuum, sweep and mop floors6. Shampoo and spot clean carpets as needed7. Clean and maintain restrooms/lavatories8. Wash and clean windows, mirrors and glass surfaces9. Operate floor vacuums, carpet cleaners and other equipment to perform job duties as assigned10. Maintain cleaning inventory, re-order supply as needed, and maintain supply rooms11. Notify Facilities Manager of unsafe conditions12. Perform groundskeeping duties as assigned13. Aid in the upkeep and repair of facilities by reporting damages and maintenance needs.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: Must be able to walk, sit, stand, crouch, twist, bend, reach overhead, maneuver stairs and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities. Must be able to move around the office on a daily basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must communicate with others and exchange information. Must be able to bend and twist to perform the function of the job. Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs. Must be able to move common household appliances and furniture.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, cellphone, vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, floor machines, lawnmower, hand tools, etc.JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:1. 2 years of custodial experience in commercial setting is highly preferred.2. Ability to work responsibly and independently.3. Must be a self-starter, have good time management skills, and complete assigned work without requiring direct supervision.4. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.5. Must be able to bend and twist to perform function of the job.6. Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.7.   • Paid Leave Time starts accruing at 5.08 hours per pay check (pro-rated for employees under Full-Time).
