Information about Marion County: Compensation The wage range for this position is $17.44 to $23.36 hourly with initial wages starting at $17.44 hourly. This is a non-exempt, part-time, relief/on-call temporary job, which is eligible for overtime. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, buffs, strips, waxes, and vacuums floors
- Extracts carpets
- Operates and cleans various equipment, including power-cleaning equipment, such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors
- Cleans rest rooms and fixtures, including cleaning and disinfecting toilets, urinals, sinks, walls, vents and partitions; replenishes rest room supplies
- Dusts and cleans offices where care must be taken that office papers and materials are not destroyed; removes surface dirt/dust on horizontal surfaces at a variety of heights
- Cleans windows, mirrors and glass at a variety of heights
- Empties trash and recycling on multiple floors in county buildings; disposes of trash and recycling in proper dumpsters
- Prepares chemicals as per instructions using basic math skills to compute dilution ratios
- Responds to customer special requests for removal of debris, clean up of spills, etc
- Orders and puts away supplies
- Attends various meetings; completes required training
- Maintain building security; secures doors and performs periodic security checks to the various County buildings
- Uses basic computer skills to check and update the work order system, complete time sheets, order supplies/laundry, schedule time off, and communicate with supervisor and coworkers via e-mail, etc.
- Carries cell phone and makes sure it is operating properly every day.
Requirements for the PositionEXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school, or equivalent, and some experience with janitorial techniques; OR Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check, including finger printing; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
- Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSBends, stoops, squats and twists; stands and walks for long periods of time; engages in repetitive work motions such as gripping, lifting and mopping; reaches above shoulders and head; climbs ladders and stairs; cleans surfaces at a variety of heights and angles; lifts and carries equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes and pulls up to 75 lbs.
