The Custodian must be flexible and show the ability to work as a part of a team with a willingness to accept guidance and directives from the Custodial Supervisor and/or the Director of Facility Services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.Clean, stock, and sanitize areas using established practices and procedures 2.Use authorized cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior of the buildings looking clean and professional 3.Adhere to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone 4.Secure and lock assigned areas 5.Assist with event set-up and tear down 6.Use and maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report all repairs needed 7.Assist in cleaning of spills 8.Change light bulbs throughout campus as needed 9.Observe and report the need of repairs throughout campus 10.Perform other duties as assigned CORE COMPETENCIES: Demonstrate personal integrity and trustworthiness Manage stressful situations and changing priorities effectively Anticipate, recognize and resolve problems Be responsible and accountable Use organizational skills and provide attention to details Maintain a positive, optimistic and success-oriented attitude Exercise professional demeanor, which includes being tactful and courteous Exhibit a professional work ethic Continuously promote a safe work environment REQUIREMENTS:Education: High school diploma Certification/License: Driver's license Skills: Basic communication skills; basic computer skillsWORKING CONDITIONS: Custodial Services is divided into four shifts: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Each shift will include a thirty-minute lunch break. This position may work various hours depending on the needs of the department with occasional weekend coverage. This position may be exposed to cold and hot conditions throughout the shift. This position must demonstrate safety responsibility and the ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE). This position is considered essential staff. Essential staff provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the University, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect University properties. Should the University close for any reason, essential staff will report to work as usual.
