Bellingham Technical College is recruiting for two regular classified Custodian positions, one swing shift and one graveyard shift. Positions report under the general supervision of the Facilities Director and may also take direction from the assigned Lead(s). The positions are anticipated to begin in January 2025.Qualifications, skills, and all relevant experience needed for this role can be found in the full description below.These positions perform a variety of routine housekeeping, custodial and light maintenance duties to maintain the cleanliness and care of the college facilities within assigned areas. These duties include, but are not limited to moving furniture, cleaning buildings, restrooms, and outdoor areas, and stocking supplies.These positions are also responsible for serving a key role in the College emergency and management response efforts. Positions provides a critical role of being and providing a presence , either individually or with additional Facilities team members, as needed for safety issues during campus operations.Required minimum qualifications includes physical ability to do required work. Ability to clearly communicate and follow directions, both written and verbal.Salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement with Teamsters, Swing Shift Custodian, Range 3. The salary starts at $3,416 per month, $19.63 per hour, with annual increments thereafter up to $4,360 per month ($25.06 per hour) after 5 years of BTC experience in a regular custodian position. The Graveyard Custodian is Range 4 and salary starts at $3,587 per month, $20.61 per hour, with annual increments thereafter up to $4,579 per month ($26.32 per hour) after 5 years of BTC experience in a regular custodian position.Graveyard Shift Work Schedule: The regular work schedule for this graveyard position is an 8-hour graveyard shift, Monday through Friday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Occasional alternate shifts may be required, to provide for coverage for college events, projects, or inclement weather.Swing Shift Work Schedule: The regular work schedule for this swing shift position is an 8-hour swing shift, Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Occasional alternate shifts may be required, to provide for coverage for college events, projects, or inclement weather.Leave is subject to the Teamsters negotiated agreement which currently expires December 31, 2025. Positions receives 8 hours per month of sick leave and starts with 10 hours per month (15 days per year) of vacation leave, 24 hours of personal leave and 12 paid state/college holidays per calendar year. The vacation leave and personal leave are available after successful completion of a 90 actual days worked probationary period. Benefits also include a Washington State insurance package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability; a retirement benefits package, with choice between the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) Plan 2 or 3, up to five days of bereavement leave, depending on relative, military leave per RCW 38.40.060 and paid civil/jury duty. Additional optional benefits include ability to participate in a medical Flexible Spending plan, Limited Purpose Flexible Spending plan, or Health Savings Account; Dependent Care Assistance; auto and homeowners insurance discounts, employee only tuition waiver assistance; and two voluntary investment (not matched) programs - TIAA (403b) or the State Deferred Compensation (457) plan.
