Custodian - Keweenaw Bay Indian Community : Job Details

Ensure that the facility is safe, and clean at all times.Surfaces are to be cleaned and disinfectedDusts and wet mops floors and restroom areas.Cleans and sanitizes all sinks and toilet basinsEnsures paper and soap dispensers are stocked and functional.Spot cleans and vacuums all carpeted areas.Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, and office spaces.Replace interior lights, as needed.Schedules and performs filter changes, and all other maintenance tasks as assigned.Move furniture and prepare office space for new employees.Monitors janitorial supply inventory, to notify the director of facility needsMaintains janitorial equipment and storage areas in a clean and organized fashion.Completes daily cleaning & disinfecting checklist.Unclog sinks, toilets, and drains using a plunger or other plumbing equipmentPainting: does plaster or drywall patching, painting, and touch-up paint as needed and directed by the supervisor.Groundskeeping: Cuts grass close to the building and trim edging as needed. Maintains all lawnmowers and power driver equipment. Waters plants, and shrubs. Shovels and salts entryway during winter months.Works with the maintenance department to ensure all reported maintenance problems are repaired as soon as possible.Replaces, assembles or repairs furniture.Tacks or glues down torn or loose carpet.Maintains all vacuums, scrubbers, and polishersPlans for major repairs/room renovations to be done during slow times.Orders all maintenance parts, supplies, and equipment and keeps frequently used items in stock with manager approval.Keeps material safety data sheets up to date.Wash windowsRun errandsPick up deliveriesRepair trimHang pictures, curtains, etc.Move desks and file cabinetsSweep sidewalks, and roofs, clear cobwebs, etc.Shovel and rake as neededKeep records of workMay be required to assist with oversight of program participants as required.Will be required to work nights and weekends during large events held at the center.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
