  • Salary: $34,216.00 to $38,521.60 ($16.45 to $18.52 per hour).
  • 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 20. $34,216.00 to $42,806.40 ($16.45 to $20.58 per hour).

Work Location
  • This position will work at Anoka County properties.
  • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Full-Time Custodian.
  • Maintain a daily routine in area assigned: trash and recycling pick-up, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, polishing glass entry areas and mopping terrazzo floors.
  • Perform carpet cleaning; dusting; changing light bulbs; use of extractors, auto scrubbers and buffers for floor care on a weekly and as needed basis.
  • Prioritize and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Complete extra cleaning duties in all areas as assigned.
  • Advise and review special conditions with supervisor such as broken doors, security risks and badge protocol.
  • Work closely with new hires and assists team members.
  • Train, develop and share job knowledge and techniques.
  • Attend weekly and monthly meetings with supervisor and staff.
  • Participate in quarterly performance coaching and training.
  • Keep areas secure and alerts Facilities Management when issues arise.
  • Ensure that the mission of Facilities Management and Construction is being accomplished.
Qualifications and Requirements:Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • Lift up to 60 pounds, e.g. detergent containers, de-icer bags, equipment, etc., with or without accommodation.
  • Must successfully pass criminal history and driver's license background check.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • Paid experience in custodial field.
  • Ability to maintain multiple buildings at different locations by performing restroom cleaning, trash and recycling removal, cleaning glass, mopping floors, carpet cleaning (extraction method), buffing tile and terrazzo floors.
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of large and small custodial equipment and machinery: riding auto scrubber, walk-behind carpet sweeper, auto scrubber, swing buffing machine, buffer, steam cleaner, various carpet extractors, John Deere gator, etc.
  • High school diploma, GED diploma, HiSET credential, or TASC diploma.
  • Industrial cleaning materials, chemicals and methods.
  • Decision making and problem solving.
  • Perform and follow written and oral communication
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and work independently and within a team in a diverse workplace.
  • Communicate and resolve needs as requested by various county departments.
  • Work effectively with members of the general public, local regulatory officials, utility representatives and other agencies as needed.
  • Perform tasks involving standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing and stooping.
