Salary : $42,848.00 - $52,686.40 Annually Location : San Andreas, CA Job Type: Full Time Regular - Benefited Job Number: 2025-00018 Department: Administrative Office Division: Admin - Facilities Opening Date: 02/10/2025 Closing Date: 3/2/2025 11:59 PM Pacific Position Description In-person interviews to be held Thursday, March 13th, 2025 Work schedule: Monday - Friday / 4:30 pm - 1:00 am Under general supervision, maintains assigned facilities in a clean, sanitary, and neat condition in accordance with occupational, safety, and health standards; and performs related work as required. DISTINGUISING CHARACTERISTICS: This is a full working level classification, qualified to independently perform the full range of custodial duties. Example of Duties
  • Performs a variety of duties such as sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, scrubs and oils floors.
  • Spot clean carpets as needed.
  • Cleans all windows including glass, sills, frames and blinds.
  • Cleans, disinfects and sanitizes restrooms including hardware, fixtures, floors, mirrors, walls, doors and partitions as well as services paper and soap dispensers.
  • Cleans office areas including furniture, phones, lamps, walls, doors, door hardware, wastebaskets, floors and baseboards.
  • Cleans building entrances including sidewalks, ashtrays, mats, carpet, glass, metal surfaces, corners and floors.
  • Cleans corridors and lobbies including sweeping, vacuuming floors, baseboards, spot cleaning carpets, drinking fountains, furniture, drapes, blinds.
  • Cleans all other incidental items or areas such as air vents, storage areas, desks and table tops, dust areas on a regular basis or as needed.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of custodial equipment including stripping machine, waxer, buffer, carpet extractor, carpet shampooer, wet and dry vacuums, and other custodial equipment as assigned.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Polishes metal work.
  • Moves and arranges furniture and equipment for special events.
  • Cleans custodial closets and organizes supplies and equipment. Replenishes as needed.
  • Notifies lead or supervisor of problems with mechanical systems, lighting and power, damaged, vandalized or missing property, equipment and supplies.
  • Follows adopted policies and procedures in accordance with County priorities.
  • Observes all safety requirements
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of: Methods, materials and equipment used in building cleaning work; safe work practices. Ability to: Custodian I Read and write at the level required for successful job performance; clean and care for assigned buildings and equipment; use a variety of janitorial equipment and materials; understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Special Requirements Possession of an appropriate California driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles may be required. Qualifying Classifications: Registered EH Specialists, EH Techs, OSS Engineers, Fleet Manager, Junior Engineer, Mechanic series, Sheriff's Mechanic, Public Works Inspector, Road Maintenance Worker series, Integrated Waste Worker series, AG Techs, and AG Biologists, and Recycling Program Coordinator I/II, Permit Tech I/II, Engineering Tech I/II assigned to the Rock Creek Landfill facility, and Air Pollution Control Tech. Uniform Allowance: $600 per calendar year split into monthly payments. Payments will be made monthly on the second pay check. Qualifying classifications: Custodian series, facility maintenance worker series, facilities maintenance engineer. Extra-Hire: Extra-hire employees are not eligible for step advances, vacation, seniority rights, holiday pay or other certain employee benefits. They are entitled to 24 hours of sick leave per year and eligilbe for the county's CORE Medical plan but not eligible for dental or vision insurance. Vacation days: 0 - 3 complete years = 80 hours per year. After 6 months you can take your first week. 3 - 10 complete years = 120 hours per year 10 years+ = 160 per year Holidays: 14 paid holidays per year. Life Insurance through ReliaStar: $50,000.00 County paid. After 65 years of age, pays out 65%, after 70 years of age ReliaStar pays out 32.5%. Sick Leave: 12 days annual sick leave accrual with unlimited accumulation. Sick leave is accrued at 3.69 hours for each full 80 hours of payroll period. 60 hours of sick leave can be used for immediate family, parent spouse, child or sibling. Merit: After successfully completing twenty-six (26) pay periods, a 3.5% merit increase may be granted. Merit increases may be granted annually thereafter to the top step. Probation Period: New employees remain in a probationary status for 26 pay periods.. Longevity Incentives @ 2.5% for each of the following:
