Posting DetailsPosition Information Position Title Custodian - PT Weekend (Dorm) Department Physical Plant Location Lincoln Job Category Support Staff Job Type PT Posting Number 01921 Position End DatePosition Summary Information General Description of Position Under the general direction and supervision of the Superintendent, Physical Plant, the Custodian is responsible for cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness both inside and outside of areas assigned, and for the removal of waste collected. Normal work hours for this part-time regular position are Saturday and Sunday between 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Typical hours would be 6 - 7 hours each day. Essential FunctionsClean All Aspects of the Assigned AreaClean and disinfect sinks, showers, toilets, and trash receptacles and mop restroom floors. Clean and fill toilet paper and paper towel dispensers. Clean mirrors, handrails, floors, glass doors, windows, window ledges, file cabinets, blinds, shelves, tables, chairs, dry-erase boards, ceilings, diffusers, and air ducts. Vacuum and empty trash cans and replace liners.Secure AreaMake sure all doors are locked and lights turned off before leaving the area.Safety and SecurityUnderstand the dangers and safety precautions in the use of chemicals. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of custodial supplies, materials, and equipment. Skill and ability to use this knowledge.Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public.Ability to work as a productive member of a maintenance team using the established practices, procedures, and policies of the college and directives of the supervisor.Complete diversity/safety education yearly.Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.Ability to communicate effectively both in writing, in person, and on the phone.Ability to use basic computer skills.The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.ScheduleHours of work for this part-time position are scheduled by the College generally between 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays and 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek. This is a part-time regular position.Minimum Qualifications High School graduate or GED.One (1) year of successful experience in the custodial area.Able to work with cleaning chemicals. Desired Qualifications Past employment references indicative of successful performance in the Custodial area.
