THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role functions as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) within the Customer Care Center of PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services, addressing a diverse range of inquiries related to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), the Bureau of Driver Licensing (BDL), the Bureau of REAL ID (BRI), and other designated areas of PennDOT. The CSR is tasked with upholding a positive representation of PennDOT to the public while providing comprehensive, accurate, and detailed information in a courteous and professional manner.
The position requires the processing and clarification of intricate information across various functions, utilizing available reference materials and systems. The work necessitates the exercise of independent judgment and decision-making regarding the appropriate procedures to follow, the confidentiality of the information being handled, and the necessary actions to take in accordance with established policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. CSRs must demonstrate the ability to apply discretion and sound judgment when sharing information, particularly when such information may be prone to misinterpretation or misuse.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch
+ This position may be required to work during office closures
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or
+ One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
+ You must be willing and able to travel to Harrisburg for a minimum of 5 weeks for training and orientation (travel expenses will be paid).
+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
+ Experiencing using a PC or laptop
+ Experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
+ Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
+ Prior call center experience
+ Prior customer service experience
+ Bilingual
