Job Description:

This position will help customers, process applicant payments, handle phone calls regarding a variety of topics like criminal history background checks, Concealed Handgun and Explosive Permits, Fingerprinting and DNA sampling for Sex Offender Registry, and many others. You also will assist the public with accessing and navigating the NSP Online Calendar for scheduling fingerprinting appointments, perform fingerprinting by using the LiveScan device to electronically capture fingerprints, research and verify information from arresting agencies and court dispositions, utilize the Patrol Criminal History and various other criminal justice databases. * Act as a representative of the agency to the public by assisting walk-in customers and handling phone calls regarding criminal history background check processes and statuses, Concealed Carry and explosive permits, fingerprinting, DNA sampling for and registering with the Sex Offender Registry.
* Process requests for fingerprinting by using the LiveScan device to electronically capture the fingerprint, photograph and signature images via data lines to the workstation.
* Receives applications and fees (both cash and check) for CCW and explosive permits.
* Initiates data entry of applicant information for permits into Nebraska State Patrol's administrative system - Record Information Tracking System (RITS).
* Receives requests and fees for criminal histories in person and via fax and mail.
* Researches and verifies information from arresting agencies and court dispositions, utilizing the Patrol Criminal History and other criminal justice databases.
* Accepts provides receipts, deposits, keeps safe, and accounts for all monies received and the entries of those monies into the (RITS ) and NIS systems.
* Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must be able to alternate frequently between sitting, standing and walking.
Requirement / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; research; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience in performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including the use of personal computers and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Office Software. Excellent telephone skills are essential.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance is expected. If selected for this position, you must meet the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services employment eligibility requirements by completing an EEV (I-9) Form. The agency does not sponsor H1-B Visa's. Applicant must successfully complete an extensive background screening prior to being employed, which includes completion of a Personal History Questionnaire. Applicants will be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a fingerprint-based check and before unconditional employment is offered. Applicants must be free of felony convictions, and cannot maintain a continuous association or dealings with persons, groups, or organizations that they know, or should know are persons or groups or organizations under criminal investigation or indictment or who have a reputation for present, ongoing involvement in felonious or criminal behavior. Selection process will include an interview.
