Position Summary:

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a skilled Customs Entry Writer to join their expanding team in New York City. In this vital role, you will facilitate customs clearance for international shipments, ensuring compliance with all customs regulations, including FDA, EPA, and Lacey Act requirements, while delivering exceptional service for our clients' most important accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process customs entry documentation accurately and efficiently, including classifications and lines per entry.
  • Ensure compliance with various regulations, including the Lacey Act, FDA, EPA, Customs Modernization Act, Tariff Act, and other applicable trade laws.
  • Coordinate with customs authorities and agencies to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide exceptional customer service throughout the customs brokerage process.
  • Oversee import/export operations from origin to final destination, ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve shipping and customs-related issues proactively to minimize disruptions and delays.
  • Stay updated on customs regulations, compliance requirements, and changes in trade laws.
  • Prepare and analyze performance reports to identify areas for improvement in customs clearance processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in freight forwarding with a strong focus on customs entry writing and customs brokerage.
  • Strong understanding of customs procedures, import/export regulations, and international trade compliance.
  • Knowledge of the Lacey Act, FDA, EPA, Customs Modernization Act, Tariff Act, and other regulatory requirements related to customs clearance and import/export classifications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with customs clearance software (e.g., CargoWise, AS400, SAP) is a plus.
