ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:This position exists so that company products can be cut and packaged from stock reels to customer requested lengths and put on wood or steel reels in compliance with customer specifications.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make cable cuts and put on proper reels.
- Load and unload reels in cut stand.
- Operate forklift and reel mover to get reels to cut stand. (Full & empty)
- Seal cable ends and tie up ends to reel.
- Assist in other shipping functions as needed.
- Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
- Heavy reels weighing up to 25,000#, but typically < 7,000# must be pushed into payoffs to be cut and then pushed out of take-up after cutting. Material handling equipment available for use. Cable must be pulled up from payoffs to take-up with proper procedures used to avoid injury.
- Cable ends have to be picked up to apply caps and to be tied to reels.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school education or the equivalent required.
- Career Readiness Certificate
- Previous experience driving forklift preferred.
- Must be willing to learn computer system
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- OJT - Will use company systems - SAP
