Job Description :
The Cutter Welder is responsible for the cutting and welding of spring within the production cell in accordance with written work instructions in support of TSS Denver's Vision-Mission-Values (VMV). They must follow processes and procedures to each required specification ensuring quality production of parts.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cuts Metaplast, Cantilever, Helical and Slantcoil spring for seal production.
  • Welds Metaplast, Cantilever, Helical and Slantcoil with welder per procedures.
  • Loads Cantilever, Helical and Slantcoil spring into seal jackets using various tools according to work instructions as needed.
  • Follows procedures for pulling rosettes from sheet and forming with rosette punch.
  • Follows procedures for expander cutting and forming.
  • Follows procedures for second operations; includes using appropriate chemicals to complete etching and notching on seals.
  • Follows procedures for seal assembly.
  • Advanced Cutter Welders will weld 32 cross section spring per work instructions.
  • Duties includes labeling, packing, and following TSSD packaging procedures.
  • Cross-training in other areas including but not limited to Assembly and CNC.
  • Demonstrates understanding, support and consistent application of our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and ExperienceThis position requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. This is an entry-level position that should have 0-1 year previous experience in a manufacturing environment.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to use various hand tools such as cutters, direct current (spot) welders and loading equipment.
  • Must have good dexterity and vision to handle small spring.
  • Ability to work with welding machines and small device assembly.
  • Must have basic knowledge of blueprints and work instructions.
  • Must have working knowledge of micrometers and calipers.
  • Working knowledge of SPC (statistical process control).
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively in English both written and verbal.
  • Must have basic math skills to read and process work instructions.
  • Must have the highest level of attention to detail.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment UsedThis position is located in a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, bending, and reaching throughout an entire eight to ten-hour shift. Must be able to move and handle varying sized products in bags and/or boxes in a dirty, dusty and noisy environment as well as industrial smells. Requires lifting up to 25 lbs. Requires working with measuring and cutting tools as well as a direct current welder.Health and Safety - PPE Requirements
  • Safety Glasses to be worn at all times when on the production floor
  • Safety Shoes to be worn at all times when on the production floor
  • Must wear appropriate PPE for all work activities performed; varies based work
