The instructor will help students deepen their understanding of cybersecurity principles and develop practical skills to advance their careers in the IT and cybersecurity industries. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, committed to student success, and skilled at fostering a hands-on, interactive learning environment.Under general supervision of the Dean of the Division or the program coordinator within that Division, the faculty member teaches assigned class loads and serves as faculty advisor according to the rules and procedures of the College. The faculty member will work at least 40 hours per week including instructing courses, maintaining posted office hours, evaluating student work, preparing for the courses, and fulfilling other duties as needed. These positions may be nine (9) or twelve (12) months positions.

Primary Duties
- Provides quality instruction and teaches assigned class loads, including class, lab, clinical, and online as directed, according to MCC Faculty Workload Policy
- Teach classes at MCC approved locations, including local high schools, Avery Learning Center, and Yancey Learning Center
- Use methods of instruction and teaching techniques that are appropriate to fulfill course goals, objectives, and learning outcomes
- Serves as a faculty advisor to students of the college
- Assists students outside of scheduled class times as needed, including the Student Support Center upon student request
- Weekly reporting of grades and attendance in college systems throughout the semester
- Submit Early Alerts and Administrative Withdrawals as outlined in MCC procedures
- Develops and maintains course syllabi
- Participates in course development and course revision processes for the department
- Furnishes all data and reports accurately according to deadlines set by the Instructional Services Division and the Academic Calendar. These would include, but not be limited to:
- Semester workload sheet
- Course syllabi, following the format given by the college
- Attendance Reporting
- Final grades
- Student Learning Outcome documentation
- Attends faculty and unit meetings, and workshops as scheduled
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through professional development opportunities
- Actively participates in the faculty evaluation process
- Notifies the direct supervisor of any absences or alterations in the class schedule in advance and in writing. Complete Leave forms according to MCC Policy.
- Mentors adjunct faculty as assigned by the area supervisor
- Participates in graduation, priority registration, and final registration, and is available for student orientations as requested
- Participates in student recruitment activities
- Participates in assigned committees and task forces
- Assist in the inventory process for equipment and supplies, as directed by the College's Business Office
- Work and collaborate with Student Services to support student success in classes
- Provide accessible instruction to students with disabilities as directed by Counseling and Disability Services
- Continual support of the College's mission, vision, and values as stated in plans, policies, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of networking, IT security, IT threat analysis, penetration testing, ethical hacking, and security administration
Preferred Qualifications Education:
- A master's degree in a related field
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, CISSP, or equivalent
Experience:
- Proficiency in using tools and technologies commonly employed in cybersecurity, such as SIEM systems, firewalls, and penetration testing tools
- Three or more years of professional experience in cybersecurity or a related IT field
- Prior teaching or training experience, preferably in an adult education or community college setting
- Experience designing and delivering online or hybrid courses
- Familiarity with current workforce needs and local cybersecurity job markets
