Location: Minneapolis, MN (onsite 3 days per week)

Job Type: W2 hourly contract-to-hire

Compensation Range: $35-45/hr

On behalf of our manufacturing client, we are seeking a DAM Librarian to manage and optimize digital asset workflows, ensuring seamless organization, accessibility, and compliance. This role involves maintaining metadata structures, overseeing asset storage, enforcing governance policies, and providing user training and support during the development of the company's in-house productions studio.

The ideal candidate will have experience with DAM systems (e.g., Cloudinary, Adobe Experience Manager, Bynder, Widen, or Brandfolder), a strong understanding of metadata and taxonomy best practices, and proficiency in digital rights management. Additionally, they should possess excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive process efficiencies. A BA/BS degree and a minimum of five years of DAM experience are required.

Responsibilities

Asset Organization & Metadata Management

  • Develop and maintain metadata schemas and taxonomy structures.
  • Ensure accurate tagging, categorization, and classification of assets.
  • Implement metadata best practices to enhance searchability and retrieval.

DAM System Administration

  • Oversee the organization, storage, and archiving of digital assets.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security settings.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist with asset purchases and searches.

Governance & Compliance

  • Enforce DAM policies, including rights management and version control.
  • Ensure compliance with copyright, licensing, and digital rights management (DRM).
  • Maintain asset lifecycle processes, including retention and disposal policies.

User Training & Support

  • Provide training and documentation on DAM best practices.
  • Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Gather feedback to improve system usability and workflows.

Workflow Optimization & Integration

  • Manage incoming asset requests.
  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and IT teams to optimize asset workflows.
  • Integrate the DAM system with other tools (e.g., CMS, PIM, project management software).
  • Automate processes to improve efficiency and asset distribution.
  • Enforce DAM processes and application usage.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Track DAM usage, asset performance, and user engagement.
  • Generate reports and insights to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify trends and areas for improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with DAM systems (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Bynder, Widen, Brandfolder). Cloudinary is currently in place for now.
  • Metadata & Taxonomy Expertise: Understanding of metadata standards, taxonomies, and vocabularies (e.g., IPTC, XMP, Dublin Core).
  • Digital Rights Management (DRM): Knowledge of copyright, licensing, and asset usage policies.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Training & Communication: Strong ability to educate and support users with varying technical skills.
  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Precision in asset organization, tagging, and compliance enforcement.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Industry Knowledge:
  • Proficient understanding of the photo production process and various still/video file formats.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

Experience & Education

  • Education: BA/BS degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience supporting a DAM system.
