Data & AI Solutions Principal Consultant - Ampersand : Job Details

About the Role

This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position with opportunity for full-time conversion. You bring strong expertise in AI, data science, and analytics, with experience implementing innovative solutions for clients. You combine technical skills with business understanding, being comfortable both with hands-on development and project leadership. As our AI & Data Innovation Principal at Ampersand, you will help grow our AI and data practice while delivering value to our clients.

How You'll Contribute:

As a principal consultant, you will contribute to our AI and data practice through:

Project Leadership

• Lead AI and data initiatives for client engagements
• Build strong client relationships and understand their business needs
• Develop project plans and solutions that meet client objectives
• Contribute to practice growth through knowledge sharing and service delivery

Technical Direction

• Design and implement AI/ML solutions and data architectures
• Guide development teams in applying AI technologies effectively
• Ensure data quality, security, and ethical AI practices
• Conduct technical discovery and solution design

Client Management & Leadership

• Maintain & continue fostering existing client relationships
• Support business development efforts
• Help create solutions and proposals
• Lead project teams in AI and analytics delivery
• Share technical knowledge and best practices

Qualifications:

Experience

• 5-7 years in data architecture, AI/ML, and analytics
• 3+ years consulting experience with project management and client relationship management
• Track record of successful AI/ML solution delivery
• Solution development experience

Desired Technical Expertise

• Strong Python/R programming skills
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• BI tool proficiency (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
• Experience with LLMs and generative AI tools
• AI agent development and orchestration
• Prompt engineering and LLM fine-tuning
• Experience with AI platforms (Dataiku, Azure ML, AWS AI)
• Salesforce development and automation
• Data pipeline and warehouse implementation

Additional Requirements

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $145,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
