A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience. Duties Description Under the direction of a Data Analyst 2, the Data Analyst 1 will devise methods for identifying data pattern and trends in data sources. Duties include but are not limited to: Develop and implement databases, data collection systems and data analysis activities. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources. Filter and clean data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code and data problems. Verify data quality to ensure accurate analysis and reporting. Perform data extraction, aggregation, and quality checks from multiple sources and tables in support of trend identification and root cause analysis. Develop charts, graphs, tables, and graphics to interpret and present data in a meaningful way. Communicate insights and recommendations effectively. Contribute to data dictionary, standards, training, and ongoing updates. Contribute to improving business performance and driving data-driven decision-making. Work with other Data Analysts and management to develop and build analytic models in support of policy development and budgetary proposals. Utilize advanced analytical techniques to predict future infrastructure conditions and needs. Leverage programming expertise to build unique datasets and analytical programs.Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the departments response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
