Data Analyst I Work Location: Madison, WI - National Office Schedule: Full time Want to use your data skills to make an incredible impact for Christ? To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will serve to analyze institutional ministry data through data mining, modeling, and reporting to improve various ministry engagement programs as well as philanthropic productivity. You will also be responsible for translating ministry objectives into analytics and reporting solutions, identifying key findings, and communicating these findings to key InterVarsity stakeholders and leadership. As a data analyst, you will have either a technical or research focus in your responsibilities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Personal:

Provide institutional data analytics: - Analyze data for ministry and development purposes - identifying target audiences for engagement and ministry growth in order to maximize organizational results
- Deliver statistical trend analysis, including performance, forecasting and projection reports on large sets of constituent data from a wide variety of sources and provide data entry and clean-up efforts as needed
- Present analytical findings to various stakeholders, advising on how to use results to inform ministry strategy
- Educate research, development, marketing, and program staff on how to utilize data to inform strategy and ministry decisions
- Maintain the highest standards in regard to data ethics, accuracy, collection, and transparency in data collection and analysis methodologies
- Be a contributing team member towards the vision and values of the CRM database conversion process
Data Analyst Focus Areas: May perform one or more of the following Data Analysis functions:
- Manage Technical Data Analysis
- Collaborate with other teams to understand data needs and priorities, identify opportunities for analytics services, and operationalize analytics tools into reports
- Using data mining, modeling, and analysis, (in conjunction with a comprehensive understanding of development and ministry processes), create statistically based solutions and offer important insights into the patterns among our various constituents, our program objectives and provide recommendations for future action/opportunities
- Recommend additional data collection efforts
- Manage Organizational wide Reporting and Data Modeling
- Develop models on projects and for programs as needed for each of the Executive Vice-Presidential reporting lines
- Develop organizational wide dash boards
- Develop and refine predictive modeling scores for major and planned gifts, and other development engagement strategies
- Manage Field Ministry Data Collection:
- Provide insight into Field culture and practice to the team and the director, while managing the field ministry data collection process
- Develop and refine descriptive, predictive, projection modeling scores for ministry, major and planned gifts, and other engagement strategies
- Provide leadership for the Fall Field Report (FFR) and Annual Field Report (AFR) analytic process
- Influence and advice the FFR and AFR data collection process
- Produce findings and studies in both written and visual forms, including executive summaries in a winsome and timely matter
- Ensure the quality and integrity of data by practicing proper data collection and quality control.
- Partner with Field, Information Technology Services (ITS), Development, and Ministry Intelligence (MI) in the design and execution of the data collection process, including current and future changes related to Salesforce
- Serve as MI lead on the creation of and future development of ministry data dashboards in Salesforce
- Partner with Field and MI teams to develop proper data collection questions and information
- Partner with Finance and Administration leadership in the creation of accurate and insightful reports on ministry health and growth
- Provide Analyst Leadership:
- Take initiative, be creative, and practice sound independent judgement when managing and creating projects that meet the needs and goals of the Ministry Intelligence Team in service of the wider Fellowship
- Partner and consult with leaders on data gathering and survey construction
- Consult, answer questions, and lead studies that answer Field and Ministry wide questions
- Propose project ideas to Director of Ministry Intelligence
- Partner with Communications, Learning and Talent, People and Culture and the Development Leadership Team to present ministry findings in creative, compelling, and winsome ways for the audience/leader(ship). Actively seek ways to use story to present analytical findings
- Represent MI in various meetings, taskforces, projects, and teams as directed by the Director of MI
- Develop, analyze, and supervise reporting systems to monitor key Ministry Intelligence goals and projects
- Offer analysis of key data that is relevant to crucial activities and yearly goals of the Ministry Intelligence Team
- Participate in creation of annual ministry MI departmental plans and reports
Ministry Partnership Development:
- Develop a personal support team for prayer and financial support through visits, phone calls, and regular prayer letters with provided support and training
- Raise an agreed upon amount of financial support annually
Foster a collective team environment:
- Be a contributing member of the team meetings
- Attend and be a contributing member of team and NSC Community gatherings
- Attend and work InterVarsity events as assigned (Urbana, National Staff Conference, Guest Programs, etc.)
- Partner and collaborate with Technology and Salesforce developers and others as needed
- Other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS - Annually affirm InterVarsity's Statement of Faith
- Bachelor's degree required. Masters or PHD preferred; a quantitative research-based discipline (statistics, mathematics, economics, quantitative social science) is strongly preferred
- Minimum of three years' experience in a quantitative or analytics role; experience using data sets to build predictive models
- Extensive campus ministry experience, ideally more than 10 years of field and/or leadership experience preferred for Field Ministry Data Collection focus
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles and models
- Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently without close supervision
- Knowledge of or willing to learn analytics, querying, and visualization tools such as SPSS, SQL/SOQL, Tableau
- Ability to hold matters in confidence and to handle confidential information with integrity
- Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines
- Winsome customer service, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Winsome oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of the basic principles of visual display, explanation, and design
- Effective project management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel is required.
- Experience with Salesforce NPSP is preferred
- Experience with Tableau and Einstein Analytics preferred
- Experience with Azure and Azure SQL preferred
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
- Be a contributing member of the NSC community
- Willingness to travel as needed
Pay Range: $49,296.00 - $65,724.00 per year
