Responsibilities

Client is recruiting for a highly experienced and effective data analyst to assist with managing and enhancing the Equipment & Material Engineering asset health, department health and data visualization tools. This position will report to the Supervisor of Equipment and Material Engineering (EME). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing dashboards for use in daily communication with internal customers and management. This includes reporting and tracking performance against key performance indicators. The successful candidate will be able to take team requirements and develop solutions using applications available within client. The candidate should exhibit demonstrated success working with diverse teams and be adept working in fast paced, dynamic work environments.

Essential duties and functions may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned:

  • Enhance asset health, department health and data visualization applications using Tableau or similar visualization applications.
  • Create performance tracking visuals for day-to-day operations and long-term analysis. Including reports and dashboards to monitor department health metrics such as type projects staff worked on, task durations, current projects, and upcoming projects.
  • Assist with data extractions for substation equipment monitoring and analytical tools – PTX, Cascade, equipment/material projections, etc.
  • Provide technology support working with databases, MS Office, etc.
  • Maintain EME SharePoint site and support SharePoint enhancement efforts for Engineering team.
  • Execute data entry tasks in Cascade in support of system maintenance activities.
  • Meet with decision makers, system owners and end users to define business, financial and operations requirements and systems goals.
  • Assist with requirements gathering sessions to elicit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations.
  • Track issues through resolution lifecycle.
  • Produce and keep up to date detailed process documentation on the development of any reports and performance tracking visuals.
  • Follow all City of Austin and client's records and Information Management program rules and Data Governance policies.
  • Qualifications

    • Minimum (Required):
    • YES- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Computer Science, Business or Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
    • 4-7 years experience in utilizing electric utility applications including Cascade, SharePoint, Tableau, MS Office Suite, MS Visio and asset/work/financial management applications.
    • 4-7 years of advance level in MS Excel.
    • 4-7 years experience in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) language to create macros, automate tasks, and add custom functionality to Excel.
    • 4-7 years experience in project coordination.
    • 4-7 years experience investigating and analyzing engineering data sets; draft reports and make presentations.
    • 4-7 years experience coordinating work with vendors and internally across several workgroups.

    Preferred (Optional):

    • 5 years experience with energy metering data and metering applications
    • 5 years experience with data historian systems, data repository systems
    • 5 years experience in electrical network equipment
    • 5 years experience working closely with field personnel to support project energization.
