Role Overview: The primary purpose of this role is to enter data pertaining to patient specimens received to the lab by ensuring proper communication and documentation regarding patient requisitions and related NovoPath entries. Data entered includes, but is not limited to, patient demographics, clinical history, client data, and laboratory results. This position will also be responsible for completing paperwork for specimens sent to outside laboratories for specialized testing Responsibilities: Accurately enter patient demographics and diagnoses, client data, test information, and laboratory results into the Laboratory Information Management System (NovoPath). Perform Quality Assurance for patient information with high accuracy and in accordance with established protocols. Accurately complete paperwork for specimens to be sent to outside laboratories and ensure specimens are delivered to the proper location. Identify specimen errors and follow procedures to correct problems, including proper documentation. Scan all paperwork, run missing requisition reports, and follow-ups. Complete procedures and work during scheduled shift without interfering with the quality of work or the quality of patient care. Needs to respond to changes in work schedule as necessary, continually use time to departmental advantage, and aid other departments when necessary. Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and perform well under stress. Must be able to triage and prioritize tasks in order to meet daily deadlines and complete work efficiently. Must maintain a clean working environment and practice and support safety in the workplace. Must support Laboratory goals, policies, procedures, and philosophy. Comply with all State, Federal, and professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals. Adhere to CAP, CLIA, State regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma required. Knowledge of Medical Terminology required. Experience in a medical laboratory or office environment preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Proficiency in typing skills and data entry. Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral/written instruction. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, vendors, clients, and external agencies.
