Remote Work: Hybrid, Minimum 3 days in the office. Remote work will be consideredDescription OverviewOld Republic Professional (ORPRO) is seeking a Data Scientist to join our growing company. As a Data Scientist with 1-3 years of experience, you will be an integral part of ORPRO's efforts to develop and enhance its data capabilities. You will work alongside a team of data professionals to analyze complex datasets, build dashboards/reports for key stakeholders within the organization, and contribute to data-driven strategies that support risk assessment and decision-making.Job Responsibilities
Data Analysis and Exploration:Perform in-depth analysis of large and complex datasets related to Director and Officers (D&O), Financial Institutions (FI), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary Liability, and Professional and Transactional liability insurance policies, claims, and industry trends. Utilize data visualization software Power BI and techniques to communicate key insights to stakeholders. Data Preprocessing and Cleansing:Prepare and cleanse raw data (from multiple internal and external sources), ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance with industry regulations. Handle missing data and outliers as necessary. Collaborative Problem Solving:Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including underwriters and legal experts, to understand business-related challenges and objectives. Propose data-driven solutions and contribute to strategy development. Communication:Present findings and model insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Document data analysis processes, model development, and results for regulatory compliance and knowledge sharing. Regulatory and Industry Knowledge:Stay informed about industry regulations, compliance standards, and emerging trends. Stay updated on the latest developments in data science and analytics. Pursue professional development opportunities to expand your expertise.Job Requirements Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline. 1-3 years of practical experience in data analysis, data modeling, or data engineering, preferably in the Financial Services sector. Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar programming language. Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex topics to non-technical audiences. Knowledge of SQL for data retrieval and manipulation. Experience with Tableau, Looker, or similar visualization/business intelligence platforms a plus. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams. Experience maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
