Job Summary: As a Database Administrator II, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the company's database systems to support various business functions, including GIS services, fiber installation projects, and engineering schematics. You will ensure high availability, performance, and security of the databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives. Your role will involve advanced database management tasks, performance tuning, data integration, and adherence to security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Database Design and Architecture: - Develop and maintain database structures to support application and business requirements.
- Design scalable database solutions that enhance operational efficiency and data integrity.
2. Database Management: - Administer, monitor, and maintain database systems, including SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
- Implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure data protection.
3. Data Integration: - Develop and support ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for seamless data integration across systems.
- Collaborate with GIS teams to integrate geospatial data and support applications like ESRI ArcMap and Katapult.
4. Security and Compliance: - Enforce database security policies and compliance with industry standards.
- Perform audits and implement data encryption to safeguard sensitive information.
5. Performance Tuning: - Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management.
- Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues to minimize downtime and enhance reliability.
6. Development and Support: - Develop database scripts, functions, and stored procedures.
- Provide technical support and resolve database-related issues promptly.
7. Documentation and Reporting: - Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database processes and workflows.
- Generate reports to support business analytics and decision-making.
8. Project Management: - Lead and contribute to database-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to implement new database systems and upgrades.
Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on database management, performance tuning, and data integration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle. Experience with ETL tools and processes. Knowledge of database security practices and compliance standards. Familiarity with GIS applications and data integration (e.g., ESRI ArcMap, Katapult).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimize database performance and resolve issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and document database processes.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
- Certifications (Preferred): Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, or similar.
