Our client is looking for an experienced Database Administrator with expertise in PostgreSQL to oversee the architecture, optimization, and upkeep of their database systems. Responsibilities
- Database Strategy and Design: Develop and implement scalable and reliable PostgreSQL database solutions tailored to business needs.
- Optimization: Analyze and enhance database performance using techniques such as query optimization, indexing strategies, and resource allocation.
- Data Protection: Establish robust backup and recovery mechanisms, including replication and disaster recovery solutions.
- Security Oversight: Apply and maintain security measures to safeguard sensitive data, adhering to industry standards.
- System Monitoring: Set up and use tools to continuously track database performance and ensure system reliability.
- Automation: Streamline routine operations such as monitoring, backups, and deployment using automation tools and scripts.
- Updates and Maintenance: Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches with minimal service disruption.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of database processes, configurations, and guidelines.
- Team Support: Collaborate with developers on query optimization, schema design, and application integration.
- Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve database issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in PostgreSQL database administration.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL systems and architecture.
- Strong skills in SQL tuning and performance enhancements.
- Familiarity with high-availability setups, including replication and clustering.
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery strategies.
- Proficiency in cloud-hosted databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
- Automation experience using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools and their configuration (e.g., pgAdmin, Nagios, Zabbix).
- Awareness of database security practices and compliance standards.
