Provide support to daily operations of day camp programming and safety. Coordinate weekly with Program and Counselor Coordinators ensuring all Day Camp operation needs are being met. Be an active participant in?campers' experience and camp community. Uphold all policies, procedures, and safety standards for the wellbeing of staff and campers. This seasonal full-time position is needed from May 21,2025 through July 29,2025. What you'll do:
- Provide administrative oversight and support to the GSWISE Day Camp program.
- Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff trainings.
- Monitor staff morale among day camp counselors.
- Oversee GSWISE daily check-in, check-out procedures.
- Observe and interact with campers and day camp counselors to promote a positive experience at camp.
- Help counselors resolve conflicts appropriately.
- Ensure lunches have been collected, snacks are distributed and prepare for the next day.
- Be available to debrief campers / staff in situations where emergency actions are needed or advised.
- Be available to step in situations that may arise during the camp and provide necessary assistance to the counselors.
- Develop and follow routines for GSWISE Day Camp operations such as morning/afternoon flag, bus unloading and loading, late arrivals/early pickups.
- Provide support to other admin staff as needed.
- Support and advise Assistant Director(s) with any problems that arise with in GSWISE Day Camp.
- Work with Office Manger to answer phone calls, respond to guardian queries, and coordinate guardian communication.
- Interpret, enforce, and teach state, American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts standards.
- Comprehend, monitor and be willing to assist with crisis management plan and overall safety guidelines, including emergency procedures.
- Assist in the opening and closing of camp.
- Participate in the upkeep and cleaning of camp and units daily.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and creative.
- Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsWho You Are & Keys To Success
- At least 21 years of age.
- Experience and/or education in camp/recreational programming preferred.
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff.
- Ability to work and collaborate with peers.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
- Ability to creatively plan, originate, organize and carry out daily and special programs.
- Good driving record and valid driver's license for at least one year. Valid driver's license, compliance with the council's policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council's business auto insurance carrier.
- Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular hours preferred.?
- Physical demands and work environment regularly requires the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas and as well as inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a positive, fun, and professional environment.
- Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors including with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
- Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
- Willingness to be an active respectful member of camp and all camp activities while upholding Girl Scout traditions
- Must have background check completed by GSWISE.
