From the hardware to the networks and everything between, they humbly make it all happen.Being part of the 200 strong Infrastructure Services organization, you'll help to engineer and deliver the core infrastructure services that power our payments platform. We're responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining 20,000 servers via an automation platform, thousands of databases, and petabytes of storage hosted from our data centers and public cloud.We are looking for talented individuals to join the Infrastructure Services organization; you'll be a self-starter, possess an analytical mindset, and be a change agent.What you'll ownA leadership role in managing DB2 mainframe z/OS database overseeing a team of database administrators and engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining DB2 mainframe z/OS database within an organization. As a leader in this capacity, your responsibilities may include:Strategic Planning: Develop and communicate a strategic vision for the organization's DB2 mainframe z/OS database aligning technology initiatives with business goals and objectives.Team Management: Lead and manage a team of database administrators and engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure the team's success and professional development.Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects related to DB2z database, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.Database Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient DB2z database, including deployment, automation, and database security solutions.Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors, senior leaders, and service providers to evaluate and procure hardware, software, and services for DB2z database, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements.Compliance and Security: Ensure that database comply with industry regulations, security best practices, and organizational policies, conducting audits and implementing controls to mitigate risks.Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze database performance metrics, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement measures to enhance the efficiency and reliability of database.Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Lead the response to database incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with the team to resolve problems promptly and minimize impact on operations.Training and Development: Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with key stakeholders, including IT leadership, business executives, and Application teams, to provide updates on database initiatives, address concerns, and solicit feedback to improve services.Where you'll own itNorth America:While we're a large team of Worldpayers based in North America, we have collaborative spaces and regular opportunities to celebrate with each other in person.What you bringExperience: Several years of experience in database administration, engineering, or related roles in a Global organization. Experience managing DB2 on mainframe z/OS, very large scale OLTP and analytical data structures is essential.Leadership and management skills: Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a team of IT professionals, are crucial for this leadership role. Experience in team management, mentoring, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution is important.Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of DB2 on mainframe z/OS, database design, development and administration, storage, and security concepts is essential for this leadership role. Hands-on experience with database architecture, design, monitoring, and implementation is valuable.Project management: Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication, is important for overseeing technology initiatives and ensuring successful project delivery.Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively communicating with team members, stakeholders, executives, and end users. The ability to articulate technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner is important.Problem-solving abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for addressing complex technology challenges, troubleshooting database issues, and making informed decisions to drive database improvements.Strategic thinking: A strategic mindset, with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals, develop long-term technology plans, and identify opportunities for innovation and optimization, is important for a leadership role.Added bonus if you have:Education: A bachelor's degree or greater in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Practical experience in the role can be used in place of formal education.Certifications: Certifications in database technologies are highly valued.
