GENERAL DUTIES
Queens College, City University of New York (QC/CUNY) is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to serve as the inaugural Dean of the School of Business. The Dean will report to the Provost and work collaboratively with the college's leadership to position QC as a leader in business education in New York City and beyond. This is a pivotal role, tasked with leading the development and accreditation of the School of Business, shaping its vision, and overseeing the administration, academic programs, faculty and staff. This will require developing long- and short-range plans, and exercising management responsibilities for academic program planning, faculty matters, and administration, including staffing budgets and facilities. This role also requires fostering a high quality environment for academic teaching, research and intellectual achievement, and creating and strengthening partnerships within and outside the College.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
We seek a candidate who holds a terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in a business-related field from an accredited institution and possesses a distinguished record of academic achievement, research and scholarship in a business discipline. The ideal candidate will have significant administrative and leadership experience in higher education, preferably at the level of department chair, associate dean, dean or higher, coupled with a thorough understanding of the accreditation process for business schools (e.g., AACSB, ACBSP) and the associated standards and requirements. Additionally, they should have a demonstrated track record of success in building and managing academic programs, fostering faculty development and effectively allocating resources. Strong financial and administrative acumen, including experience with managing budgets, fundraising and resource development and management.
The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within an academic institution and demonstrate a record of progressively enhanced responsibility, accountability and success in driving student academic and career outcomes. They will provide vision and execution to expand and align academic programming in the School with the needs of students and employers. The candidate should possess excellent organizational skills, analytical ability, strategic orientation, a strong focus on outcomes and experience in effectively communicating results. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from ethnically, culturally and economically diverse backgrounds is essential, along with familiarity with regional accreditation processes and accrediting agencies. The successful candidate will exhibit a student-focused orientation befitting a leadership role at a large, urban, minority-serving institution of higher education. They should lead with diplomacy, tact, confidentiality and fairness, while being skilled in developing staff, fostering teamwork and managing change. A high level of familiarity with best practices for advancing all faculty, particularly in recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty, is required. Experience in a unionized higher education environment is desired, as is expertise in fundraising to grow student opportunities.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: $190,000 - $210,000
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
