The University of Memphis seeks a postdoc/research scientist with experience on defense related research. The position is open to any candidate who is interested in learning defense research fields and is interested in fine tuning their knowledge of funding mechanisms within the defense department. Successful candidates can be from any research field, but special consideration is given to individuals with some background in hypersonics and high temperature fluid mechanics, sensor technologies, cavitation and bubbly flows, inorganic materials science. Candidate must have a PhD but no prior industry experience is required.
Successful candidates will be able to take direction, have excellent speaking and writing skills, and be able to represent the Director of Research Development in issues related to ongoing defense relationships. This position is for individuals who wish to cultivate leadership skills.
The position is a limited one year with an optional renewal and may be based in either Memphis, TN or Washington, DC metro areas. Some travel is required.
