Position Details:
  • Pay: $70,000+ annually, plus competitive bonus potential
  • Minimum 2 years transportation supervisory/management experience
  • CDL-A Licence Required
  • 1-2 overnights a week
Position Summary:Responsible for supervision and training of drivers at Operating Company (OpCo) and in the field, and for ensuring deliveries are made in safe, efficient and timely manner. Assists with monitoring Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, ensures drivers are in compliance with all DOT and OpCo regulations, and coordinates the tracking of all relevant information on drivers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.Position Responsibilities:
  • Meets drivers in the field to complete safety evaluations, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution. Rides with drivers for training and/or evaluation purposes.
  • Assists Transportation/Operations Manager with overall day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, which may include reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving problems, and ensuring that drivers are compliant with DOT and OpCo regulations.
  • Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices.
  • Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork including invoices, cash receipts, collection register, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files and accident reporting.
  • Works in conjunction with Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and to ensure all deliveries are efficiently routed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent ExperienceMinimum 2 years transportation supervisory experience leading a team of Class A DriversClass A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Experience driving commercial vehicles.Able to work flexible shifts based on business needsIn-depth knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations requiredIntermediate level Microsoft Office expertise requiredAbility to use critical thinking skills to analyze situations and drive decisions requiredStrong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills requiredDemonstrated experience in budget creation and managing to that budget requiredDemonstrable experience successfully working across functional areasNormal office environment. May require sustained periods on warehouse floorNormal sit/stand/walk required for an office position that oversees distributionWork is performed in an office, with daily exposure to warehouse environment i.e., noise and vibrations due to materials handling equipment and temperature changes
