Job Description :
We are currently looking for a Full Time Dental Assistant II to join our Dental Clinic Unit 2 team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.Summary:Performs clerical and clinical duties in the dental clinic.Responsibilities:* Answers the phone, transfers calls, takes messages and screens calls per guidelines for areas served* Prepares restorative materials for dental procedures* Performs coronal polishing procedures as instructed by dentist* Places and removes dental dam* Applies topical anesthetic as instructed by dentist* Applies sealants on teeth as instructed by dentist* Applies topical fluoride as instructed by dentist* Operates dental x-ray equipment * Advocates and participates in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions* Records care given and reports patient care observations* Maintains and documents intake and output* Collects patient data in initial screening and documents as necessary* Assists provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures, exams, specimen collection and other care as directed* Assists patients in scheduling appointments* Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff* Facilitates consults, referrals, and form completion as requested and approved by the medical staff* Cleans, disinfects, assembles, packages, records, sterilizes, and stores all instruments and equipment used for patient care* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner- Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made- Greets and engages with a smile- Determines needs, seeks positive experience and outcomes* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types- Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment- Maintains and promotes professionalism- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics- Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards* Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.* Performs all other duties as assignedCompetencies:Essential:* Able to follow instructions, both written and oral * Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements* Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability* Able to read, understand and apply regulations and policies* Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology* Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management* Writes effective communications with team, departments, guests and management* Maintains clear and complete employee health recordsSkills:Essential:* Basic Computer skillsExperience:Essential:* 1 year directly related experienceEducation:Essential:* High School, GED or EquivalentNonessential:* Technical SchoolCredentials:Essential:* Pass general background check* Basic Life Support (BLS)* Coronal Polishing Topical Fluoride Permit* Sealants PermitWorking Conditions:Essential:* Fast-paced* Potential exposure to biohazards* Potential exposure to contagious diseases* Interacts with clinical, support, technical, professional or management staff in a variety of settings and situations* Pass pre-employment drug test* Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach* Use computer up to 25% of shift* Sometimes lift and or carry up to 50 lbs* Standing up to 100% of shift* Walking up to 100% of shift
