We are currently looking for a Full Time Dental Assistant Specialty II to join our Dental Specialty team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. Summary: Provides clerical and clinical duties in the dental clinic. Responsibilities: * Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types - Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner - Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made - Greets and engages with a smile - Determines needs, seeks positive experience and outcomes * Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities * Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types - Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment - Maintains and promotes professionalism - Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics - Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards * Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc. * Manages and orders office inventory, equipment, uniforms and/or other operational supplies * Answers the phone, transfers calls, takes messages and screens calls per guidelines for areas served * Prepares restorative materials for dental procedures * Performs coronal polishing procedures as instructed by dentist * Places and removes dental dam * Applies topical anesthetic as instructed by dentist * Applies sealants on teeth as instructed by dentist * Applies topical fluoride as instructed by dentist * Operates dental x-ray equipment * May require to be cross trained in multiple areas as assigned * Advocates and participates in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions * Records care given and reports patient care observations * Maintains and documents intake and output * Collects patient data in initial screening and documents as necessary * Assists provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures, exams, specimen collection and other care as directed * Assists patients in scheduling appointments * Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff * Facilitates consults, referrals, and form completion as requested and approved by the medical staff * Assists with orientation, special activities and training on specific procedures, tasks or equipment * May transport items within the Chickasaw Nation with an emphasis in and around assigned area * Cleans, disinfects, assembles, packages, records, sterilizes, and stores all instruments and equipment used for patient care * Performs all other duties as assigned Competencies: Essential: * Able to follow instructions, both written and oral * Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements * Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability * Able to read, understand and apply regulations and policies * Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology * Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management * Writes effective communications with team, departments, guests and management Skills: Experience: Essential: * 3 years directly related experience Education: Essential: * High School, GED or Equivalent Nonessential: * Technical School Credentials: Essential: * Pass general background check * Basic Life Support (BLS) * Coronal Polishing Topical Fluoride Permit * Nitrous Oxide Permit * Radiation Safety Permit * Sealants Permit Working Conditions: Essential: * Hospital or Clinic * Potential exposure to biohazards * Potential exposure to contagious diseases * May be required to assist individuals who are emotionally disturbed * Pass pre-employment drug test * Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach * Use computer up to 25% of shift * Sometimes lift and or carry up to 50 lbs * Standing up to 100% of shift * Walking up to 100% of shift
