Dental Assistant

Dental Assistant needed in our New River Valley dental office. We are looking for a positive, hard-working assistant to join our team. Pay will be negotiated based on experience. This position offers 7-8 weeks of paid vacation per year.

Office Hours: Mon-Thurs 8-5 with a 1 hr. lunch break

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

Dental assisting certificate preferred. Must have some dental assisting experience, experience with EMR (electronic medical records), and xrays.

Dental Assistant Duties Checklist:

  • Preps treatment room, instruments, and materials.
  • Interacts with patients in a professional manner by welcoming, seating, and draping patient. Also helps patient maintain comfort during dental treatment and provides post-op instructions.
  • Provides information and education.
  • Provides information and education.
  • Maintains dental instruments, sterilizes and organizes supplies.
  • Positions instruments for dentist's access, suctions, and passes instruments to dentist during dental procedures.
  • Takes dental impressions and fabricates temporary restorations. Cleans and polishes removable appliances.
  • Provides diagnostic information.
  • Takes radiographs, pours, trims, and polishes study casts.
  • Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply.
  • Documents dental care by charting and creating notes in patient records.
  • Complies with OSHA and HIPPA standards.
  • Prepares cases for labs. Tracks case progress to ensure availability on delivery date.
  • Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipate needed supplies, place and expedite orders for supplies, and verify receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Contributes to team effort and maintains positive attitude and work environment.
