The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering (NYU Tandon) invites applications for the position of Department Chair and Professor of CBE, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025.The CBEDepartment is undergoing a major expansion that will nearly triple its size from 2016 to 2026 in a newly renovated, modern laboratory space at the heart of Brooklyn. The department has 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty members with a primary appointment in CBE, including five NSF CAREER winners and NAE and AAAS members, as well as 10 continuing-contract faculty. The department's present research portfolio emphasizes biomolecular and cellular engineering, advanced semiconductor and soft materials, and sustainable chemical engineering. The department promotes a collaborative environment, with a number of faculty having joint appointments or affiliations with other NYU schools including the School of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The department also boasts a strong innovation ecosystem in bio- and climate-technologies that leverages the vast entrepreneurship resources of NYU and New York City, promotes the formation of faculty and student-led spin-off companies, and integrates also externally formed startups to enrich our community.The department offers two undergraduate degrees (Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and Biomolecular Science), three master's degrees (Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Biotechnology & Entrepreneurship), and one doctoral degree (Chemical Engineering).
