The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as a Departmental Manager in the Licensing Section of the Office of Insurance Licensing, Investigations, and Audits. The right candidate will manage one of three units in the Licensing Section of the Office of Insurance Licensing, Investigations, and Audits. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the complex pharmacy benefit manager, premium finance company, and reinsurance intermediary licensure programs, as well as the registration of foreign risk retention groups and purchasing groups, and third-party administration certifications by state and federal statute requirements. This managerial position allows a new manager to develop leadership skills as you work closely with the Licensing Section managers to oversee a team of analysts and technicians.

Work Location: This is an in-person position based in Lansing, Michigan, with the possibility for a hybrid work schedule where you would work from home up to three days per week, following a training period if approved.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications
Alternative experience qualifications of nonprofessional experience, previously identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service, will be accepted as a substitute for the required classified, professional experience for the classification. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Individuals appointed must possess the department-specific alternative experience for positions within that agency only.
